The Wildcats finished the fall season on a positive note by taking home 3rd place in the Frisco League Conference Tournament.  This goes along with their 2nd place regular season finish in conference play.  Tyler Hunt was the winning pitcher for Licking as he took a no hitting into the 6th inning.  The no-hitter was broken up with 2 outs in the inning.  Hunt was relieved at that point by Tyler Hood.  Hunt went 5 2/3 innings, striking out 10 and walking 2 while allowing only 1 hit and no runs.

Tyler Hood led the offense with a 2 for 3 night while collecting 1 RBI and scoring 3 runs.  Wyatt Porter and Tyler Lavely each homered for Licking.

Licking finished the season off with a 13-2 overall record while going 9-2 in conference play through the regular season and conference tournament.

For the 2nd time in the past week, the Wildcats shaky defense let them down in a big Frisco League Conference Game.  Tyler Lavely took the loss (his 1st of the season), going 6 innings while allowing 11 hits and only 3 earned runs while striking out 3 and walking 5.  The offense hit well enough to win but left a few too many runners on base to make up for the poor defensive play.  Leading the way offensively was Tyler Lavely with 2 hits, Jarad Crews with 2 hits, and Jonathan Urton with 2 hits.  Licking will take on Laquey for 3rd place in the Frisco League Tournament at 2:30 pm at Stoutland on Saturday.

Licking’s sloppy defense of late finally came back to bite them as only 2 of the 10 runs that were allowed were earned runs.  Tyler Hunt started the game on the mound for Licking but had to come out after only 1 inning due to a sore arm.  Licking had just tied the game up in the top of the 3rd inning with a 2 run homerun by Hunt when the 8 run, 3 error inning haunted Licking.  The Wildcats did put a scare into Dixon as they rallied to score 3 runs the last 2 innings and had the bases loaded in the 7th when the game ended.

Licking drops to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play and finishes 2nd in the conference regular season standing.  They will play at 2:00 on Saturday in the first round of the Frisco League Tournament.

Licking continued it’s dominating offensive performance in this Frisco League Conference Rivalry.  After a silent 1st inning, Licking exploded for a 6 run 2nd inning.  5 of those runs came with 2 outs highlighted by a Tyler Hunt 3-run double.  A sloppy 3rd inning defensively by Licking allowed Iberia to get back into the game, but the Wildcats responded again in the top of the 4th with 4 big runs to put the game into comfortable position.  Tyler Lavely collected the win for Licking, going 6 innings, striking out 7 and walking 4 while allowing 8 hits and 1 earned run.  Licking was led offensively by a monster night from Tyler Hunt.  Hunt went 3 for 4 with a homerun and 4 RBI as well as 3 runs scored.  Licking also received multiple hits from Tyler Lavely, Josh Hood, Tyler Hood, and Wyatt Porter.

Licking improved to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference and will travel to Mansfield tomorrow for a 4:30 non-conference game.

Chuck McDowell had the game winning hit in this week-long multi-site Frisco League Conference contest.  The game began last Friday at Licking where Newburg had a 2-1 advantage after 4 innings of play.  Play resumed today at Newburg because Licking’s field was too wet.  The 5th inning saw a lot of action with no runs scored as Newburg and Licking both had 2 runners reach base with 2 outs, but both teams found their way out of jams.  The bottom of the 7th saw Tyler Hood leading off and falling behind 0 and 2.  After a curveball in the dirt, Hood was hit by a pitch.  Wyatt Porter then flew out to centerfield.  After Hood stole 2nd base and advanced on a passed ball, Jonathan Urton drew a walk and stole 2nd base.  Grant McDowell struck out on a curveball that got away from the catcher allowing Hood to tie the game, Urton to advance to third, and McDowell to reach 1st.  Tyler Hunt was then intentionally walked to load the bases when Chuck McDowell ripped the game-winning single into left field.  Tyler Lavely Collected the win for Licking, going 3 1/3 innings with 5 K’s, 2 BB, and 0 Hits allowed.

Licking moves to 5-0 with the win and will host Crocker tomorrow night at 5:00 pm.
